NA GAEIL U12:On Sunday last we travelled to Laune Rangers in Phase 2 of the County League. Again both our teams put in fine performances.
In the first game our lads were unfortunate not to come away with all the points but a draw away to Laune Rangers is always a good result.
The lads have been on a great run of form of late and have adapted to the pace and strength of this Division.
Goals from Cillian Murphy and Graham Sheehy helped secure a very credible draw against a strong Laune Rangers outfit.
Na Gaeil 2.9 Laune Rangers 2.9 In the other match the boys put in a superb display against an equally strong Laune Rangers side. From the throw in we fought for every ball and never gave the opposition time to settle.
Against a strong breeze in the first half we defended superbly with Denis Moriarty a towering presence at the back who’s work-rate was phenomenal. Daniel Hedrickson was inspirational in goals while Sean Barrett , Conail Clifford and Joshua Roche defended heroically and their covering and interplay was very impressive frustrating the Laune Rangers attack time and again.
Aaron Delahunty and Nathan Rodgers rotated from forwards to midfield and both boys were outstanding covering an unbelievable amount of ground.
Along with superb scores and endless running from our dynamic forwards Cian Sheehan and Sean O Connell we were unlucky not to come away with a win. Well done to all! Training continues Thursday 6pm.

NA GAEIL SENIOR: Na Gaeil faced Templenoe in the junior championship. In what was always going to be a difficult assignment having to play away didn’t help.
Templenoe got of to a flying start start scoring 01-03 in the opening few minutes before Kieran O’Donovan got Na Gaeil’s opening score. Despite enjoying an equal share of possession Na Gaeil never got going, with Darragh Carmody converting a free mid way through the half for our last score of the half. Templenoe 01-09; Na Gaeil 00-02.
Just as in the first half Templenoe killed off any chance of a come back with a quick succession of points.
Na Gaeil tried hard for goals but with the exception of Mike Griffin Templenoe with numbers in defence held firm. Templenoe 01-18; Na Gaeil 01-02.
NA GAEIL U14:Na Gaeil travelled to Galluras to play An Ghaeltacht in the county league lastWednesday evening.
The visitors had a dream start scoring two goals in the opening minutes. Liam Rice was first on the score sheet and Dale Healy followed up minutes with Na Gaeil’s second goal.
Darragh Reen extended Na Gaeil’s lead on the fifth minute with a well taken point. Na Gaeil didn’t get another score for fifteen minutes as An Ghaeltacht recovered from the early set back and got back into the game.
They scored three points in a row to reduce the deficit and then scored three unanswered goals to open a five point lead. Na Gaeil made a number of personnel and positional changes and were rewarded with points from Jack Bourke and Devon Burns.
The home side continued to attack and Cian Devine had to make a double save to keep Na Gaeil in the game, He made another fine save minutes later but An Ghaeltacht extended their lead with another point.
Na Gaeil struck back when Liam Rice scored his second goal of the match but this was cancelled out minutes later when An Ghaeltacht struck for their fourth goal of the half. This was the last score of the first period and the home side lead by 4-4 to 3-3 at half time.
Na Gaeil started the second half in the same manner as the first when Mathew Burke scored two goals in the opening minutes, the second goal hitting the top corner of the net. An Ghaeltacht replied with their first point of the half on the fifth minute.
This would prove to be their last score until the final minute of the game as the Na Gaeil backs began to dominate their opponents.
Ruri O’Sullivan, Edna O’Connor and Adam Burke won a lot of possession in the back line and set up a number of attacks. The Na Gaeil forwards made good use of the possession and began to trouble the Ghaeltacht back line. Points from Devon Burns (4), Dale Healy and Tadgh Lynch (2) extended Na Gaeil’s lead.
An Ghaeltacht fought back in the closing minutes but the Na Gaeil backs were determined that no further scores would be conceded and Jack Sheehan, Eoin Cahill and Jimmy O’Sullivan among others ensured that the home side were restricted to one point in the final period of the game, The Final score in Galluras was Na Gaeil 5-10 An Ghaeltacht 4-6.

NA GAEIL U12: NA Gaeil played host to Laune Rangers last Sunday in Round 2 of the County League. In a very entertaining game Na Gaeil raced ahead in the first half with a succession of superb scores from Sean O Connor, Graham Sheehy,Edward Sheehy and Peter Walsh all from play before Laune Rangers replied before the half- time whistle with two goals in the space of a minute.
Oisin Mauncell floated a beautiful 45 to narrow the gap at the break. The second half saw Laune Rangers benefiting from a strong breeze but our back line of Kieran O Connor,Cian O Neill, Peter Walsh and Scott Ryan kept us in the game with some great blocks.
Again Tadhg Reen was inspirational between the posts.Jamie Fitzgerald put us right back in the mix with a well taken goal in the 15th minute and Edward Sheehy combined with Liam Og Kingston to add three more great points going into injury time.
Unfortunately a last minute free in front of the posts gave the visitors a narrow win in the end.In our second game Laune Rangers took full advantage of the strong breeze in what was otherwise a beautiful summer-like evening.
They raced into an unassailable lead before half time. All credit to the Na Gaeil lads who rallied well in the second half and outscored their counterparts but were unable to haul back the significant lead built up by Laune Rangers before half time.
A tough game against a strong Laune Rangers team but with the same effort we showed in the second half we can be confident going into the next game. Well done again to all who played .
Team : Joshua Roche, Daniel Hendrickson, Conall Clifford, Daniel Fitzgerald, Denis Moriarty, Jack Doyle, Sean O’Connell, Nathan Rodgers, Cillian Murphy, Cian Sheehan, Aaron Delahunty.Training continues Thursday 7 to 8.30.
NA GAEIL U12: Last Sunday we played host to Austin Stacks in Round 3 of the County League. All those who attended witnessed two great games between these neighbouring sides.
In the first game Austin Stacks got off to a blistering start, racing into a six point lead in the opening seven minutes but Na Gaeil never panicked and patiently worked their way back into contention before half time with points from Oisin Mauncell and Edward Sheehy and goals from Graham Sheehy and Jamie Fitzgerald.
The second half saw Na Gaeil flying off the starting blocks with goals from Kieran O Connor and Edward Sheehy along with a succession of well taken points from all our forward line giving us a slender lead going into injury time but Austin Stacks levelled things at the final whistle with a free to share the points at the end. Again our back four of Cian O Neill, Scott Ryan, Liam Kingston and Peter Walsh gave great cover in defence.
Tadhg Reen made some great saves to keep us in the game while Sean O Connor and Cillian Murphy supplied great ball to our inside forwards. Final score. Na Gaeil 5-6, Austin Stacks 2-15.
In the second game, the Na Gaeil boys gave their best performance of the season to date. The players gave a great account of themselves all over the pitch and played with some lovely flowing football.
Excellent improvement was made in our distribution of the ball while good running for position was excellent among the forward line.
The scoreline see-sawed back and forth between the teams with both teams taking the lead at different stages.
While Austin Stacks came out on top at the end of a very entertaining game all the boys can be proud of their performances. Well done to all again. Final Score- Na Gaeil 5-10 , Austin Stacks 5-14.

NA GAEIL U16 Ladies: NA GAEIL v Rathmore Ladies Div 1 County League We played at home on Monday evening against a very strong Rathmore team. We started brightly with early goals from Jadyn and Meagan.
Rathmore came back at us and scored 2 points. 3 points from Jadyn and a point from Kay got us well in front again but Rathmore are a strong team and scored 2 goals late in the 1st half to leave us level at half time, Kay went into goals for the second half with Mary coming into back line with Grainne and Maura.
Sarah, Muireann and Erika were kept busy as Rathmore’s forwards were very strong. Nora and Nessa were winning midfield and with Meagan, Sibeal and Jadyn scoring a few more points, we were playing well, Blaithnaid, Caoimhe and Ciara were unlucky not to a goal apiece as we were dominating possession and play.
Nora made a couple of great runs from midfield and got herself a couple of fine points. Brid and Clodagh came in to the side and were making some great blocks but unfortunately as they say ‘ goals win games’, as we could not take advantage of our possession in front of goal, Rathmore broke strongly and scored 3 late goals for us to be defeated by 3 points.
It was a great performance by our team in which we did not deserve to lose but we can look forward to playing Southern Gaels at home on Thursday at 7.00 in the next round.

NA GAEIL U14 LADIES: We had a home game against Scartaglin last Sunday evening. Conditions were perfect for football and Grainne captained the team.
Both teams were very balanced and there were great battles all over the pitch. First half goals from Abi (2) and Laoise gave us a one point lead at the break, 3-0 to 1-5. Scartaglin came at us strong in the second half and picked off some nice points.
Things did not go the way of the girls in green with a couple of goal attempts being saved by the Scart keeper. A couple of late goals by Scart in the dying minutes of the game decided the match with a final scoreline of Na Gaeil 3-1 Scartaglin 3-8.
Well done to the girls for a great effort, a lot of the team had been involved in other sporting activities earlier in the day and playing on the full length pitch is tough going. We had our best turn out to date and special thanks to the U12s (Sarah, Freya, Muire, Eimear and Ciara) who togged out having already played a match in the morning.
Training continues on Wednesdays 6.30 – 7.30. Our next game is an away game to Dingle scheduled for 10th May – details to follow.
NA GAEIL U12:A strong second half performance by Na Gaeil under 12s overturned a three point half time deficitOur girls struggled to get to grips with a dominant mitchels midfield in the first half but Freya O Connor produced a wonderful display in the second half eclipsing the best Mitchel’s player.
This in turn allowed Sarah and Ciara to come forward in waves, feeding ball in to Muire, Kayleigh and Siena who scored our four second half goals.. Special mention too to our full back line of Eimer, Clodagh and Aoife who mopped up a lot of loose ball at the back and prevented any opposition goals.
Winnie in goals had another solid performance and kept another clean sheet with one spectacular save late in the game.Grace and Ailbhe are turning into very reliable wing backs and kept their markers scoreless.
Siún and Emma, with her arm just out of a cast, worked tirelessly and bravely up front .Winnie in goals had another solid performance and kept another clean sheet with one spectacular save late in the game.

Eimer swept up every loose ball and was well supported by Clodagh and Megan.Na Gaeil started well and surged into an early lead. Emma Dewey is back in form after her broken wrist and nabbed the second goal.
Sarah Barrett has been excellent in her last few games and today she was able to surge up the field scoring 1-1. She is able to do so with Ailbhe and Síle covering her runs. Síle had one great block in the second half that must have broken the morale of the Ballymac girls.Caoilinn called well and helped set up one of the goals.
In midfield Ciara Rath and Freya and Ciara scored another fine goal in the first half to set us up for the win.Muira Kingston had another great game working tirelessly for the team.Grace and Cara had their best game of the season and our full forward Kayleigh had our biggest points rally with two.

Dingle were awarded a penalty mid-way through the half but goal keeping hero, Shawn Duggan, got his leg to the ball and deflected it over the bar.
In the 16th minute, Diarmuid O’Connor rounded his man and drove the ball to the net and sent Na Gaeil into a three point lead. Dingle came looking for goals but Fergal Barry was in the right spot saving on the line to deny Dingle a sure goal.
Niall O’Mahony showed some great skill around the middle of the field and scored a point in the 20th minute from good team play. This was an evenly contested first half with both teams level at the half way stage. Na Gaeil 2-02, Dingle 0-08.
Dingle opened the scoring after three minutes with a point, but it was to be their last until the 20th minute of this half. Na Gaeil had the better possession and scored more frequently with early points from Niall and Dara.
David Fitzgerald volleyed the ball to the net in the 13th minute from a high dropping ball from Diarmuid O’Connor and Damien Bourke also pointed shortly afterwards.
The game was going good for Na Gaeil and Niall O’Mahony added to their fortunes with a goal in the 17th minute.
Score of the game came from a side-line free by Diarmuid O’Connor who drove the ball over the bar with the outside of his boot in true Maurice Fitzgerald style.

NA GAEIL U14: Na Gaeil hosted Castleisland Desmonds in the County in sunny conditions last Saturday evening in Killeen. The visitors opened the scoring with a point, but Na Gaeil immediately replied with scores from Jack Bourke and Tadgh Lynch.
The scores were level minutes later and Desmonds began to control possession. They created a number of goal chances but Cian Devine continuing his excellent start to the season made two great saves.
However the Castleisland side were soon rewarded for their efforts with two goals in quick succession and opened a six point lead.
Na Gaeil fought their way back into the game and unanswered scores from Tadgh Lynch, Devon Burns and Mathew Burke reduced the deficit to three points. Desmonds had a chance to extend their lead but Cian Devine made another save and minutes later Tadgh Lynch had the ball in the back of Desmonds net to equalise the game.
Na Gaeil took control of the match and were soon back in the lead through another point from Devon Burns.
This was followed by another goal from Tadgh Lynch and a point from Darragh Reen and Na Gaeil opened a five point lead. Desmonds reduced the lead to four points but Na Gaeil were soon back in control when Devon Burns and Jack O’Brien scored two quick goals.
Despite this Desmonds refused to give up and Thomas O’Hanifan made a great block just before half time to deny the visitors a goal.
Na Gaeil’s bad luck with injuries continued when Eoin Cahill was forced off with an ankle injury just before half time. Desmonds got the final score of a very entertaining first half to leave the half time score Na Gaeil 4-7 Desmonds 2-4.
The second half turned out to be a much tighter affair. Dale Healy created an early chance for Na Gaeil by sheer hard work but his goal bound effort was kept out by a combination of the goalie and full back.
However on the tenth minute Tadgh Lynch extended Na Gaeil’s lead with his third goal of the game. Despite this set back,Desmonds refused to give up and scored their third goal to bring them back into the game.
The visitors took encouragement from this goal and they began to dominate possession and scored four unanswered points to reduce the deficit to six points.

The hard work of the defence was rewarded when Devon Burns scored Na Gaeil’s sixth goal of the game on the 30th minute to put the result beyond doubt. Castleisland got the last score of the game to leave the final score Na Gaeil 6-7 Desmonds 3-9.
This was a real team effort with brave defending from the backs and some excellent scores from our forwards.
We now have two wins from three in the County league and hopefully we can repeat this performance in the next two games. On the injury front Adam Burke and Ruri O’Sullivan should be back for our next game and hopefully Eoin Cahill will also recover in time also.

NA GAEIL LADIES U16: NA GAEIL v Austin Stacks Ladies County League Div 1 1st Round. We played at home on Monday evening against a strong Stacks team for the 2nd time in as many weeks.
We started brightly with Jadyn opening the scoring with a point from a free kick. Jadyn who was being marked tightly got another one soon after with Meagan following up with her 1st point of the night.
Stacks got their 1st point but on the resulting kickout from Mary which found Muireann who fed it to Sibeal to which she finished it off with a fine goal.
Stacks got another point but we had Meagan who was on top form, making a great run from the halfway line, twisting and turning and finishing it off with a wonderful strike for a goal.
Ciara was working well with half forwards, along with Caoimhe in full forward who worked her socks all night and was unlucky not to get a goal but only for a great block from a Stacks player.
Sarah hurt her fingers towards the end of the 1st half which disrupted us a bit, enabling Stacks to score 2 quick goals.
We made a few changes at half time as we were playing into the wind for the 2nd half, Sarah switched to midfield with Nora who had worked tirelessly in midfield along with Nessa going to the half back line. Grainne came in at full back and Abi came in at full forward.
Erika moved to wing back and started the second half with a great goal, unfortunately Stacks responded with 2 quick goals to cut our lead to a point.
We swapped Blaithnaid with Mary in goals to give her a rest after all her hard work defending against a fine Stacks forward line.
Nora, Erika and Muireann were run ragged with sweeping up everything that came around their half-back line.
Ria, Amii and Maura did a great job in the backs , and for the rest of the game, we kept Stacks scoreless.
Clodagh and Brid came on and with Caoimhe making some great runs, creating space for Meagan and Sarah to get a goal apiece along with Meagan hitting the crossbar and upright as well.
Meagan got another point , along with Sarah getting 3 more points. Abi finished off the game with a fine goal from distance. Well done to all on a well deserved win.

NA GAEIL LADIES U14:On Bank Holiday Monday last we played table toppers, Beaufort, at home. We struggled for numbers with only 11 girls available on the day. The game went ahead with the 11 Na Gaeil girls playing against 13 Beaufort girls and their subs on the full length pitch.
Eventhough we lost the match 3-10 to 6-7 the girls put in an heroic performance with each one of them playing out of their skins. For much of the game it was hard to tell which team was playing with two fewer players!
The atmosphere was tremendous and all the supporters really relished the football and spirit displayed by the girls. Well done to captain Clodagh and her team – Aine, Isabelle, Grainne, Sarah, Dearbhla, Abi, Mary, Caragh, Emily and Muire.
Last Saturday evening we travelled to Killorglin to play Laune Rangers B. We had a good turn out, only missing a couple of players.
It was a tight game and everyone had to dig deep with captain Aine giving a great performance in goal. Ria did a great job at full back with Sarah stopping a lot of the Rangers attacks at the half back line.
We were up two points at half time with a score of 2-2 to 2-0. Mary and Clodagh battled well in midfield while Abi and Kay caused a lot of damage in the attack.
Rangers were only two points down in the dying moments but we managed to score another point before the final whistle leaving the score line Na Gaeil 4-5 rangers 4-2.
Thanks to all the parents who drove and supported on the day. Our next outing is a home game against Scartaglin, details to follow.

NA GAEIL SENIOR: NA Gaeil finally got their first points in division three with a hard earned draw with Beaufort.
Na Gaeil playing at home had the better of the opening exchanges with scores coming through Darragh Carmody ,Mike Griffin and Shane Carey.
The visitors came strong at the end however to take a two point lead into the break, a score which could have been a lot worse except for a flurry of of exceptional saves from Tim Culloty. Na Gaeil 00-05 Beaufort 01-04.
The second half was a more evenly contested affair with the lead exchanging hands on several occasions.
A Mike Griffin goal on the twenty minute, the home sides second with Rob Murphy scoring, looked to have set na Gaeil up with the win but Beaufort equalised with the last kick of the game for a share of the spoils. Na Gaeil 02-09 Beaufort 02-09.

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP : Na Gaeil play Churchill away this Sunday at 2 00pm in the first round of the Junior Championship. Please come along. Support needed.
NA GAEIL U16:Na Gaeil travelled to Spa to take on Churchill in Div.1 – Round 3 of the Central Region. In ideal weather conditions, Na Gaeil got off to an explosive start with a point from Niall O’Mahony in the first minute and another from Diarmuid O’Connor 30 seconds later.
Churchill’s defence had no answer to the attacking force of the Na Gaeil forwards, especially Diarmuid O’Connor who drove the ball to the back of the net in the second minute of the game and within a minute, using his left leg, sent over a point from a difficult angle. Churchill took some time to settle and Séan Donnellan pointed in the seventh minute in a rare movement through Na Gaeil’s defence.
Na Gaeil continued their attack on Churchill’s goals with a pointed free from Dara Devine, a goal from Ryan O’Neill and a further point from Diarmuid O’Connor, all within 10 minutes of the first half. Despite Churchill’s efforts to contain Diarmuid O’Connor, they failed, as he was unmarkable and gave an exhibit of football.
Churchill found the net in the 15th minute keeping the game alive. Na Gaeil had plenty possession in this half, dropping a lot of ball short of the target until Patrick Roche pointed in the 28th minute.
Churchill had good movements in the later stages of this half and were denied a sure goal with a diving save from Ferghal Barry at a crucial stage. Halftime score Na Gaeil 2-6 Churchill 1-2.
Dara Devine started the scoring in this half with a pointed free in the 3rd minute. Na Gaeil took a hold of this half early on though the scores were not as plentiful but they had good movements and direct ball into the forwards where Diarmuid O’Connor fired over a point from such a movement.
This was an entertaining half with regular movements from both ends of the field. Churchill continued to battle for possession and scores but they found it hard to penetrate the Na Gaeil defence and were guilty of a number of wides.
They scored two points from play in this half, not a true reflection of their second half performance. Further scores came from Na Gaeil’s Dara Devine (2), assisted by Dan Goggin and a penalty from Diarmuid O’Connor. Na Gaeil continued to battle right to the end with Tadhg Lynch scoring two fine last minute points.
There were fine performances from Diarmuid O’Connor, Ryan O’Neil, Dara Devine and Niall O’Mahony. David Boyle gave a credited first half performance and Dylan Burns seemed to be constantly stuck in the middle of the action helping out his teammates. Final score Na Gaeil 3-13 Churchill 1-4.
NA GAEIL U 14: The U14 team took part in Feile Peil na nOg which was held in Rathmore last Saturday. Na Gaeil played in the A competition and were in the same group as Dr Crokes, Rathmore and Laune Rangers.
In the opening match we played Dr Crokes who started the game brightly and opened the scoring with a goal from one of their first attacks.
They quickly followed up with further scores to open a six point lead before Na Gaeil registered their first score. The second half was much tighter and Na Gaeil had a number of chances to get back into the game but unfortunately didn’t take them leaving the final score Na Gaeil 0-2 Dr Crokes 1-5.
The second game was against the hosts, Rathmore and this was a much improved performance. Na Gaeil lead by 0-3 to 0-0 at half time and extended their lead to five points in the second half.
Rathmore responded with a late free and a goal from a last minute penalty but the game finished Na Gaeil 0-5 Rathmore 1-1.
The final game of the day was against Laune Rangers and the winner of this game would qualify for County Semi-final next week end.
Na Gaeil started the game brightly and opened a two point lead. They had chances to further extend their lead but two quick goals just before half time swung the game in favour of the Killorglin side.
With a small panel Na Gaeil struggled in the second half and Laune Rangers ran out winners with the final score line Na Gaeil 1-3 Laune Rangers 3-5. Despite not qualifying to the semi-final stage the team gained good experience playing against Division one teams.
Panel: C Devine, E Cahill, E O’Connor, J O’Sullivan, J Sheehan, R O’Sullivan, T Walsh, T Lynch, T O’Hanifan, J Bourke, A Burke, D Burns, M Burke, D Healy, D Reen, J O’Brien, J Kelliher, T Horgan.
We are back in Rathmore again next Wednesday at 7.15 for our next game in the county league. This will be followed up with the rescheduled home match against Castleisland Desmonds on Saturday at 4.00pm.
NA GAEIL U12: Our Under 12s began their County League campaign in impressive fashion last Sunday away to Legion. In ideal weather conditions both our teams gave a great display from the start.
In the first game we got on the scoreboard early with well taken points from Graham Sheehy and with Legion replying with some fine scores we edged ahead closer to half time with great points from Jamie Fitzgerald and Edward Sheehy.
Our rock solid defence of Cian O Neill, Scott Ryan, Kieran O Connor and Liam Og Kingston held tight throughout and gave little away. Great goals from Graham Sheehy and Edward Sheehy along with well taken points from Sean O Connor and Jamie Fitzgerald kept us in front along with a great performance in goals from Tadhg Reen .
Our solid midfield pairing of Oisin Mauncell and Jamie Fitzgerald sent great balls into the forward line where Aaron Delahunty made some great catches. We held on to win by a single score at the final whistle.
Our second game saw a number of debutants from our U10 ranks and along with our Under 12 players combined to great effect.
All players played a great game and lead at half time 4 points to 2. Subs were introduced at half time and while players tired in the 2nd half , their Legion counterparts were the stronger in the final quarter.
All the lads can be very pleased with their performances. Great to see some boys up from the Under 10s who made their debuts yesterday.
Team. Josh Roche, Sean Barrett, Daniel Henrickson, Batty Coffey, Daniel Fitzgerald, Denis Moriarty, Jack Doyle, Nathan Rogers, Cillian Murphy, Cian Sheehan, Kevin O’Donoghue, Sean Morris, Cian McEaneaney.

NA GAEIL U14: The U14 team started their 2015 County League campaign with a home game against Churchill last Wednesday evening.
Adam Burke opened the scoring with a point in the opening minutes; however Churchill immediately struck back with an equalisingpoint before getting the first goal of the match and another point to open an early lead.
Na Gaeil responded with points from Mathew Burke and Tomas O’Hanifan and a goal from Dale Healy to regain the lead. Devon Burns then extended the lead to two points with a free.
In a tight first half Churchill were soon level with two unanswered points before scores from Jack Bourke and another from Devon Burns left Na Gaeil leading at half time by 1-6 to 1-4.
Churchill were straight out of the blocks in the second period and dominated the opening ten minutes of the second half. They scored three unanswered points to regain the lead.
At this stage they looked it looked like Churchill were the most likely winners as they had the benefit of a strong breeze and Na Gaeil were struggling to get out of their own half. However an excellent movement from Na Gaeil was finished with a goal from Jack Sheehan. Minutes later Mathew Burke scored another goal to open a five point lead.
Churchill replied with their fourth point of the half but a great goal from Jack O’Brien left Na Gaeil in control. Jack Sheehan and Tadgh Lynch scored further points for Na Gaeil but Churchill didn’t give up and scored four more points to leave the final score Na Gaeil 4-8 Churchill 1-12.
The entire team contributed to this hard fought victory. The backs played excellently especially in the second half and defended with great desipline. All the forwards scored, with nine different scorers on the night which proved the benefit of good team work.
Panel: C Devine, E Cahill, E O’Connor, J O’Sullivan, J Sheehan, R O’Sullivan, T Walsh, T Lynch, T O’Hanifan, J Bourke, A Burke, D Burns, M Burke, D Healy, J O’Brien, J Kelliher, R McCarthy, B Sugrue,T Horgan, P Walsh.
Na Gaeil travelled to Ardfert on Sunday to play the fourth round of the St Brendan’s league.
The visitors opened the scoring with points from Dale Healy and Jack O’Brien. Ardfert soon replied with their opening score of the game before a free from Darragh Reen restored Na Gaeil’s two point lead. In a low scoring first half points from Tadgh Lynch and John Kelliher and two points from the home side left the half time score Na Gaeil 0-5, Ardfert 0-3.
A second free from John Kelliher and a point from Jack Bourke extended Na Gaeil’s lead early in the second half. Ardfert soon got their first score of the second period which was quickly cancelled by a point from Tadgh Lynch.
The home side replied with a well taken goal to reduce the deficit to a single score. However this was their last score of the game as Na Gaeil finished strongly. A point from Mathew Burke was followed by three excellent points in a row from Jack Sheehan before Darragh Reen got a late goal to leave the final score Na Gaeil 1-12 Ardfert 1-4. The victory means that Na Gaeil have reached the final of this competition.
Panel: C Devine, E Cahill, E O’Connor, J O’Sullivan, B Sugrue, J Sheehan, D Burns, T Lynch, D Reen, J Bourke, M Burke, J Kelliher, J O’Brien, D Healy, S Daly.

NA GAEIL LADIES U16:Na Gaeil v Austin Stacks U16 North Kerry League Div 1 We played at home to Stacks in our 1st match of the year. Nora played in goals and made some fine saves. Miriam, Ria and Amii were making great blocks in the full back line.
Sarah who scored a fine point along with Muireann and Mary were working hard, creating scores and supporting our midfielders Meagan and Nessa from the half back line. Jadyn and Erika were working the wings well, getting a few points each and creating space through the centre for Sibeal to score a fantastic goal. Caoimhe and Clodagh had to work hard up front and were being marked tightly.
Stacks played with the wind for the 1st half, we were down by 2 points at half time. We had the wind for the 2nd half but were not able to capitalise as Stacks defended in numbers and we lost by a couple of points. It was a good workout in preparation for our County League Div 1.
Team ; Nora O Connell, Amii Kerins, Miriam Gurrie,Ria Walsh, Muireann Moriarty, Sarah Quigley, Mary O Connell, Meagan Sheehy, Nessa Mc Garty, Jadyn Lucey, Erika O Sullivan, Sibeal Casey, Caoimhe Hanafin, Clodagh O Connor.
NA GAEIL LADIES:Na Gaeil v Finuge/St Senans Senior County League Div 2, We played at to Finuge/St Senans on Sunday evening. Conditions were perfect, if not a bit too warm.
We started brightly with early points from Sarah Cunningham, Ayesha, Jadyn and Meagan. Finuge/St Senans scored a few points in the first despite some great blocking and defending from Muireann, Deirdre and Sarah Quigley. Brid , Shona and Sile were combining well together to keep their attack quiet. Marie and Sarah got a goal each before half time.
We were playing into the wind for the 2nd half. Finuge/St Senans started very brightly in the 2nd half, despite Niamh in goals making some great blocks and kickouts, she could do anything about their goal. They followed up with a few more points. But this seemed to get our girls back on course with Ayesha getting us a point, then we won a penalty which unfortunately hit the crossbar.
The miss seemed to drive us on even harder with Sarah getting a point, then Jadyn scored 3 quick goals along with 2 more points from Marie and a point from Eilis. Our wing forwards Nora and Eilis were using the width to great effect. Eimear came on at the backs, along with Caoimhe to the half back line. NA GAEIL SENIOR: In the second round of the County League Na Gaeil faced Beale In Killeen.
Na Gaeil who were playing into a strong breeze were first of the mark with two quick points from Jamie Lowham.
Beale soon settled and as one would expect with a side playing with the breeze started to rack up a bit of a score, which would have been a lot worse except from stout defending by all the Na Gaeil team, leaving the score at half time Na Gaeil 00-05; Beale 01-06.
With Na Gaeil’s scores coming from Diarmaid Herlihy, and two from Dara Carmody.Na Gaeil with a seven point deficit to reign in, set to work from the throw in.
Points from the likes of Kieran O’Donovan and Kieran Dineen saw that by the twenty minute of the second half the sides were level.
Beale how ever got the all-important next score when then goaled on a quick counter attack, which proved to be the match winner with Na Gaeil unable to close the gap.

Laune Rangers enjoyed a purple patch for ten minutes in a half dominated by Na Gaeil, and scored a goal and two points to bring the sides closer together.
Two further points from Na Gaeil’s Diarmuid O’Connor and Tadhg Lynch left a half time score of Na Gaeil 1-06, Laune Rangers 0-06.
The visitors were first to score in this half but soon Na Gaeil began to show their superiority. Good link up play by Ryan O’Neill, Patrick Roche, and Niall O’Mahony set up Dara Devine for a fine point who demonstrated his fine shooting skills throughout the game, going on to score a further three points in the remaining minutes of this half.
A great run by Diarmuid O’Connor in the dying moments of the half saw him pierce the Laune Rangers defence and fire over another point. Laune Rangers scored two points from play and two from frees in this half.
Niall scored the final point of the game before darkness called an early halt to the half. This was a great display by all our players and a great start to the competition. Well done lads.
NA GAEIL U14:The U14 team had two matches in the St Brendan’s league this week. They hosted John Mitchels on Thursday evening and played St Pat’s the following Sunday.
The match against John Mitchels was a tight affair in the first half and the visitors lead by 2-1 to 0-4 at half time. Na Gaeil improved in the second half and played smarter with good passing and support play.
They were soon level and two second half goals but them in control of the game. John Mitchels got a few late scores but Na Gaeil finished winners with a final score of 2-12 to 3-4.

This is a great chance to play in the legendary Austin Stack park. Please remember to bring your mouth-guard.
NA GAEIL LADIES U14:The girls had an away trip to Dr. Crokes last Sun morning in extremely windy conditions. Again we were missing a few players but managed to play a 13 aside match.
Kay Barry captained the side and although we had the wind advantage in the first half we did not capitalise on it to build up scores. The Crokes team played well into the wind and went in 4-0 to 1-2 at halftime.
The Na Gaeil girls rallied well in the second half and were holding their own before they hit a purple patch and started eating into the Crokes lead. However, this big effort took it’s toll on the girls and their legs tired near the end and the Crokes scored a few late goals leaving the final result Dr Crokes 10-2 Na Gaeil 2-5.
We are still level on point on top of the table with Dr. Crokes, Scartaglin and Beaufort. We play Beaufort at home next w/e and hopefully get back to winning ways!
We will start outdoor training on Tues evening 6.30 to 7.45 following the daylight saving time change
NA GAEIL GIRLS U12:After going a goal behind within a minute out under 12 girls dug deep and emerged victorious with the team’s best performance so far this season.
Playing against the physically superior Islanders our girls had to be more resolute and the hard work over the last year on skills looks to be paying off.
Maith thú bainisteoir Philip.Siena Lucey, who sold more dummies than the sale at Mothercare, got the show on the road by slipping her marker and slotting over from close range in the third minute.
Our midfield partnership of Freya and Ciara were battling hard for loose ball and began to dominate their taller counterparts. After ten minutes our breakthrough goal when Sarah Barrett swept though from centre back and delivered a high searching ball against the Desmonds’ ramparts.
The ball broke from Siún and was snapped up by Emma who finished coolly to the net. Meanwhile, in defence, our new cúl báire Winnie kept us in the game with two point blank saves and has made the No.1 jersey her own and our full back line of Clodagh, Megan and Caoileann limited the home side to long range efforts.
Our stern defensive effort allowed Emma the time to continue her one woman terror campaign against the Castleisland corner back and she completed her hat-trick just before half time.
By now the tide was with us and we sent a message of intent within a minute of the restart when Ailbhe won the breaking ball and set Siena up for a fine goal. Eimer had been redeployed to a sweeper role and she was mopping up the few the loose balls that escaped the tenacious Cara and Elizabeth but returned to the attack to assist Siena for her second goal and grabbing cúl eile di féin ar an 16ú nóimead den dara leath.
Freya, who had a great game, then rattled the crossbar but Ailbhe was on hand to score her second point.
Fair play to Castle Island they didn’t give up and scored a few late scores to begin to worry us but then our final goal came after Muire, who had a fine game when she moved to centre-field, and our youngest player Aoife combined to feed the insatiable Emma Dewey who buried the ball in the bottom corner to finish the game on a high note.
All in all a good afternoon’s work but we still have a lot of hard work to do before the end of the season. Castle Island Desmonds 3-3 Na Gaeil 8-6.

NA GAEIL SENIOR: In the first round of the county league division three Na Gaeil Faced St Pats in Blennerville.
In a tight open first half both sides traded the lead on several occasions with Na Gaeil just edging out the home side by 07 points to 06 when the referee blew for half time.
Darragh Carmody led the scoring tally in the first half with three before being forced off injured. Ian McCarthy who had a solid opening thirty minutes chipped in with a fine individual score, Mike Griffin with two scores and Jack Barry firing over from far out at the death of the half.
Na Gaeil started the second half strongly with Ian McCarthy scoring within the opening minute of the restart.
Na Gaeil while enjoying their fair share of possession would have to wait a further fifteen minutes to add on a second score, courtesy of Jamie Lowham. During this barren spell St Pats were much more accurate accruing a tally of 01-05. To be fair Na Gaeil never gave in and reduced the six point deficit to two points thanks to Ian McCarthy 01-01 but unfortunately for the visitors time had run out. ST Pats 01-12; Na Gaeil 01-10.
We look forward in confidence to meeting Beale, at home, in the second round at 5.00pm this Saturday. Support needed.

SCÓR: Scór na bPáistí 2015 County Final held on Sunday 22nd March at the Gleneagle Hotel Killarney. We were very fortunate to have three entries in this years county final – our Quiz team who won the County Title; our Leiriú competitors who came second; and talented recitation entrant Jimi O’Suilleabháin who gave a powerful rendition of ‘the Three Wishes’.
Our Quiz team comprised Tomás Ó Hanafín, Tadhg Reen, Ciara Rath and Peter Walsh. It was a nail biting competition with very little between the teams up the penultimate round. However, our brain boxes stormed through the last two rounds to emerge as worthy champions and were proudly presented with their county medals by Leona Twiss, Scór Chairperson. Full marks to their mentor Tomás Ó Hanafín who coached the team to achieve this high accolade.
Jimi O’Suilleabháin performed a fantastic recitation piece and had the audience captivated throughout. The standard in this competition was exceptionally high and he was unlucky not to be rewarded for his efforts. Both his mother, Sorcha and Helen Sugrue gave Jimi great direction and assistance in preparing him for his performance.
Our Leiriú team of Dearbhla Quirke, Grainne Quirke, Jimi O’Suilleabháin, Eimear O’Suilleabháin, Leah Enright, Ciara Rath, Tom Walsh and Joshua Roche performed a very entertaining sketch on Emigration.
This poignant piece pulled on the heart strings of the audience comparing emigration in 1913 and 2013. Our talented group of thespians excelled on stage and won a deserved second place on the day. This would not have been possible without the directing skills of Mary Quirke and Margaret Doody.
The children involved put in a huge amount of time and effort in rehearsing for their respective disciplines and they deserve great praise for same.
This finishes our Scór journey for 2014/15. Unfortunately, we did not have participation at Scór na nÓg level. We were successful at Scór Sinsear with our Leiriú and Recitation qualifying for the County Final.
Participants were Margaret Doody, Jennie Sheehy, Helen Sugrue, Jim Adams, Colm O’Suilleabháin and Mike Lynch. Our Solo Singer Mary Ellen O’Connor sang beautifully as always!
We look forward to the 2015/16 season commencing next Autumn and hope to have continued success to mirror the efforts of our mentors and competitors.

NA GAEIL LADIES U14 :The girls had their first game of the season last Sunday at home to Kerins O’Rahillys. Although we were missing some players due to the Scor county finals, we put out a full team. Aine played a blinder in goals protected by Ria, Sophie and Isabelle in the full back line.
In the middle section of the pitch Sarah, Grainne and Clodagh played on the half back line while Mary and Abi lined out I lar na pairce. At half forwards Caragh, Kay and new girl Laoise kept the supply going into the full forward line of Kayla, Brid, Emily and Muire who put in a great show when she came in as sub.
The girls in green had the wind advantage in the first half and led at half time 2-0 to 0-1 with a goal from Mary and a stunning goal from Abi scored from a 45. Although the girls were under a lot more pressure in the second half they still managed to breach the KOR defence with two more goals from Abi and Mary and a point from Abi. Final score Na Gaeil 4 – 1 KOR 1 – 1. Well done to the girls, hope we have an enjoyable season
The ball broke from Siún and was snapped up by Emma who finished coolly to the net.Meanwhile, in defence, our new cúl báire Winnie kept us in the game with two point blank saves and has made the No.1 jersey her own and our full back line of Clodagh, Megan and Caoileann limited the home side to long range efforts.
Castle Island Desmonds 3-3 Na Gaeil u-12 Girls 8-6.

NA GAEIL SENIOR LADIES: Na Gaeil v Dr Crokes, Senior Ladies County League Div 2 , 2nd Round. We played at home on Sunday morning against Dr Crokes, conditions were good with a slight breeze coming from the town end.
We played into the wind for the 1st half, with Laura Fitzgerald out injured, Niamh started in goals for the second game in a row. Our defence of Sarah and Deirdre ptotected the goals, making sure that no one came within the 21.
Shona, Brid and Kim were very strong on the half back line. Marie and Eilis dominated midfield with our half forwards Nora, Eimear and Meabh winning loads of ball. Fiona and Ayesha who were causing all kinds of havoc with their runs. Ayesha got our 1st point along with Nora,Brid, Eilis, Meabh and Marie getting a few more points from some great work and passing. We started the 2nd half with the wind, Jadyn and Meagan came into the forwards, with Muireann coming into the backs and making some fine tackles.
Ayesha started the second half the same way she finished the 1st. Grabbing a couple of early points along with another point from Marie. Ayesha was the quickest onto a loose ball in the box and burying it into the back of the net.
Meagan and Nora got another couple of points each before Ayesha found Meagan with a great ball near the edge of the box, who then fired it low into the bottom corner.
Our defenders, when called upon were very strong along with some fine team work from our forward play. We still had a good few wides which need to be worked on but despite this, we still managed to score 2.15, with our backs keeping Crokes scores down to 3 points. There will be training in Na Gaeil on Wednesday evening at 6.00.

NA GAEIL GIRLS U12: Béal 4 – 5 Na Gaeil 3 – 3 .Though Na Gaeil lost this game they will be heartened by a spirited team performance and some outstanding personal displays. It was a closely fought match notable for the never say die attitude of both teams.
Na Gaeil came under some early pressure but defenders Clodagh, Aoife and Emma fought hard and the ball was finally cleared by Emma Dewey.
Na Gaeil then took an early lead with a well taken free kick from Freya after some great play from Siena.
Ailbhe and Sarah battled for everything in the middle of the park, with Sarah bravely blocking the ball on a number of occasions while Muire and Freya showed great determination and skill on the ball.
Béal had some outstanding players of their own however and scored two early goals despite Winnie Burke having a brilliant game in goal. The game ebbed and flowed, na Gaeil staying in touch with scores from Kayleigh and Siena.
At half time Béal led 2 – 2 to 0 – 3. Soon after play resumed Emma scored a great goal after Ailbhe and Muire had linked superbly. Béal were defending well under pressure but could not keep out Siena who rattled home a tremendous goal to give na Gaeil the lead.

This was a spirited performance from the Béal girls but theywere kept out by some great defensive play from Síle Lynch who cleared the ball a number of times and from Aoife who fought for everything at corner back.
Clodagh made some some tremendous clearances from defence enabling Sarah, Ailbhe, Siena, Emma and Freya to link up with the forwards.
Winnie Burke deserves a special mention for her skill and commitment in what everyone agreed was a brilliant exhibition of goalkeeping skill. All na Gaeil’s best efforts however could not prevent Béal from scoring two second half goals.
Megan in particular was brave and resolute in defence, never flinching from a challenge, while Elizabeth also fought bravely.
Na Gaeil were always dangerous and Kayleigh capped a great personal performance with a wonderful goal to ensure that the result would be in doubt right up to the last. The na Gaeil mentors were delighted with the all the girls and will feel that with this group they can look forward to some great victories in the future.
Well done girls! All players must be registered to be eligible to play in competition and for insurance purposes.Thank you for your co-operation and your continued support.

NA GAEIL U14: The under 14 team played away to Annascaul/Lispole on Saturday last and both teams played exceptionally well on adverse and windy conditions.
Playing against the wind in the first, the visitors were down by four points on the short whistle but accounted for themselves very well. The second half was nip and tuck with the host just about shading by 2 points.
Again, some players showed real appetite against a team we will be playing in our first Division One county league game on April 1st next. Training this Tuesday in the Sorts Complex at 5pm for games based session.
Panel: Adam Burke, Mathew Burke, Jack Bourke, Enda o Connor, Jack o Brien, Darragh Reen, Tom Walsh, Barry Sugrue, Tadgh Horgan, Richard McCarthy, Johnaton McCarthy, Jimmy O Sullivan.

NA GAEIL U12 GIRLS: An encouraging start to the season for our u-12 cailiní despite the loss to a strong Ballymac team.
Playing against the wind in the first half our defence needed to play well and Clodagh o Sullivan in particular, ably assisted by Shania McCarthy and Aoife O Sullivan repelled wave after wave of attack from the home team.
Our wing backs Emma Dewey and Caoilinn o Brien gave Sheila ní Loingsigh great options to avoid the marauding midfield of the opposition as well as leading frequent sallies on the rearguard of the county’s largest parish.
Sheila herself pulled off one fantastic save to help keep the advantage of Ballymac at half time to six points.
Buoyed up by a reshuffle by coach Philip and the wind at our backs ár gcailini, led by the battling Freya o Connor and Muire Kingston in midfield, grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and were rewarded in the second minute of the new half when Eimer Ní Shúilleabháin took a quick Cic saor which hit the crossbar, Ciara Rath pounced on the rebound and smashed the ball to the roof of the net.
Na Gaeil now had the majority of the play and Kayleigh Costello and Megan Fernane were causing so much difficulty to the home defence that the Ballymac mentors were forced to drop extra players deep.
We were unlucky to hit the crossbar on two occasions and Siún Fitzgibbon won a good free for us which was converted by Eimer to leave us within a score or two of Ballymac.
Grace Savage went close with a great kick but our great second half performance wasn’t enough to close the lead conceded in the first half.Final score: Baile Mhic Eileagóid 2-3 Na Gaeil 1-3

This week we concentrated on the skills: hand-passing, pick up, and kicking. Don’t forget keep practicing your skills at home. “Practice makes perfect”. There is lots of great talent among this crop of players with some excellent scores from both Cian Barrett and Kevin O’Donoghue.

NA GAEIL SENIOR: In what was always going to be a difficult away game, Na Gaeil face Kerins O’Rahilly’s in the first round of the town league.
O Rahillys started the stronger scoring the opening three scores without reply. Na Gaeil got off the mark courtesy of Dara Carmody, who goaled after ten minutes to level the game.
With little separating the two sides in the game Na Gaeil scored their second goal around the twenty minute, when Darren Burns threaded the ball into Ian McCarthy who calmly lobbed the keeper.
Shane Carey scored the last point of the half leaving the sides at the break, Kerins O’Rahilly’s 0-07 ; Na Gaeil 02-01.
The second half of was just as tight as in the opening half with both sides having periods of dominance without being able to transfer it to scores. Na Gaeil scores in the second half were Data Camody one being courtesy of a free after Shane Carey was felled, Ian McCarthy and a superb long ranged effort from Jamie Lowham.
Unfortunately for the vistors a combination of a heavy pitch and it being the first game of the season saw Kerins O’Rahillys with two late points run out winners . Kerins O Rahillys 0-13 ; Na Gaeil 02-05.

NA GAEIL U14:The under 14 team have been back training since the beginning of February and have had a number of indoor sessions and one outdoor session. They have also played two challenge matches against An Ghaeltacht and Laune Rangers which will help get the players back into match fitness.
The mid-term break will give us an opportunity to have outdoor training sessions this week which are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at 5pm. We also have a challenge match at Home to Finuge next Sunday at 12pm.
The team mentors have been pleased with the turnout of players at the opening sessions but it is vital that we have as many players as possible at training over the coming weeks as this pre-season training will dictate how we perform in the county league
A training schedule was handed out to players at last week’s training, those who were missing can collect the schedule at this week’s sessions.
NA GAEIL U14: The under 14 team travelled to Laune Rangers on Sunday for a friendly game in wet and heavy conditions. We had a strong panel of players ready and able and displayed terrific work rate a teamwork against a very skilful opposition. The wind was a factor for both sides in both halves and although the score was not kept, there was plenty of goals and points for both sides.
Panel: Adam Burke, Mathew Burke, Jack Bourke, Enda o Connor, Jack o Brien, Cian Devine, Devon Burns, Tadgh Lynch, Ruiri o Sullivan, Darragh Reen, Tom Walsh, Barry Sugrue, Shane Daly, Jimmy o Sullivan, Jack Sheehan, Liam Rice, Thomas Hanifan. Keep up the good work lads.

NA GAEIL SENIOR LADIES:Na GAEIL v Corca Dhuibhne senior league Div 2 first Round. We played Corca Dhuibhne on Sunday morning in Killeen. Corca came in with a full strength team but we were missing a good few players through injury so we had to start with a very young team.
We got off to a good start with Marie kicking over a fine point from distance, there was plenty of movement in the forwards with Jadyn, Jenny and Sile, our half forwards Fiona, Kate Anne and Meagan were making some good runs. Our midfielders Eilis and Marie were working hard , getting back to help the defence and setting up attacks. Marie scored form a penalty that Sile earned for us.
Niamh started in goals and had an outstanding game, making some great kickouts. Eimear, Muireann and Deirdre had a very tough game with a strong Corca attacking team. Nora, Brid and Sarah defended superbly on the 40th, Shauna came on and gave a bit more movement in around the 40.
With Marie dominating midfield and getting some fine scores and Deirdre winning every ball that came her way, we were playing well but our luck was not there on the day as we had a lot of wides to easily win the game so Corca Dhuibhne edged us out at the end to win by a few points.
Despite this we dominated possession, had plenty of chances and had some good interplay. This was a good start to the year with some good football played at stages during the game, despite the result. Hopefully we get our injured players back and we can look forward to a good year.

The organising committee added the word CELEBRATION this year, as we felt that the club had a huge amount to celebrate with our Senior team ,ladies,Junior,Juveniles right down to our very talented SCÓR members performing heroically all year.
Theresa kelliher welcomed everyone and spoke about the clubs many achievements and how this was only made possible by people volunteering of their precious time , even if it was just an hour a week but all these hours added up to make Na GAEIL what it is today,a strong vibrant football club.
Chairman Tim Lynch introduced the special guest, Diarmuid Ó Sé vice chairman of kerry Co Board. He then went on to thank all the mentors, managers, coaches ,supporters and people involved in the lotto , Bingo and other fundraising efforts over the past year.
Tim Lynch Jnr, Chairman of Bord Na nÓg spoke about the growing numbers in our many Juvenile teams leaving no doubt about the future of the club.
Anthony O Connor presented the Juniors with their medals and spoke very highly about the dedication of the team. Aidan Carmody then presented the Senior team with their medals, speaking also of their diligence and commitment to Na GAEIL.
So much so that this year no one player was presented with the Seamus Murphy cup but instead it was awarded to the team as a unit.
Paul Daly accepted on behalf of the team and thanked both management and the club. Our musical entertainment for the night, Heart and soul , had us on our feet all night leading to some highly entertaining dance moves.
Thanks especially to the organising committee Cathy Carey and Tim Lynch for all their hard work making this years Dinner Dance an unforgettable occasion .

It certainly was great to see the panel players that togged out for the game all competing to impress the big support that travelled out to see the lads in action.
We played with the traditional strong West Kerry breeze in the first half but conceded 3 soft goals and were down 5 at half time.
The second half was much more promising and we played with a little more passion to score score 2 goals and a point in the final 10 minutes to earn a deserved draw.
We hope to have another challenge game next Sunday. Thanks to the home team for the refreshments after the game.

MNA NA GAEIL
Na Gaeil v Beaufort in aid of Crumlin Hospital. We played Beaufort ladies on Sunday in Beaufort in aid of Crumlin Hospital. This was another good cause and we had a great turnout despite having a few of our players away.
It was a very tight first half with Sandra starting in goals and making some fine saves. Rosemarie , Mary Sheehy and Siobhan stood strong on the back line. Blaithnaid and Maeve were on the wingbacks with Susan making plenty of runs from the centre.
Caroline Dillane and Marguerite were working hard in midfield. Denise, Caroline Harrington and Tracey were battling in the half forward line. With Helen, Fiona and Sharon making runs looking for the ball. As we had a lot of players, some of ours helped Beaufort with Sorcha and Mairead leading the line and having a great battle with our backs.
Cait worked hard on the wing. Amy was making life hard for Blaithnaid with her runs. Mary O Connor and Heather were staying very tight on their players as well. Noelle started her first game in goals and did not concede any goals in the first half, which we were down by a point at that stage.
We played much more attacking football in the second which enabled Mary O Connor to score a goal for us( even though she was playing with Beaufort).
With only a couple of minutes to go, the ball found its way to Maeve in the forwards, she turned , hopped the ball and buried into the back of the net to help us to win by 1 point.
Well done to everyone that played and to those that made their debuts, the 2 Carolines, Mairead, Cait and Fiona. Thanks to our supporters who travelled on the day, thanks must also go to Anna and Troy for helping on the sideline and to Mike Healy for inviting us. It was a most enjoyable day and for a great cause.

RACE NIGHT: Another great night was enjoyed in the club last Saturday with our annual race night.
Philip did a outstanding job as master of ceremonies. Our judges had the unenviable task of picking a winner from the very many stylish ladies present, but finally agreed on Eileen Moriarty stunning ensemble and Melissa Hurly for her lovely hat.
Congratulations to Eamon Browne for winning best dressed man who looked debonair, and to Adrian Carmody for sporting such a dapper hat, well done for adding so much to the occasion.

NA GAEIL SENIOR LADIES:Na Gaeil Senior Ladies finished the season on a winning note by winning the Mary Jo Curran Plate final played at Keel on Sunday morning under ideal conditions. In a hard fought encounter with Corca Duibhne Na Gaeil emerged victorious on a scoreline on 5-4 to 3-5. Corca Duibhne were quickest to settle and went into a 2 point lead in the opening minutes when an excellent point from Nora O Connell playing at full forward settled Na Gaeil.
Na Gaeil started to dominate the middle third at this stage and excellent work by Jadyn Lucey began a slick interchange of passes which set up Meadbh Horgan for Na Gaeils first goal giving them a lead they would not relinquish.
On the resumption Jadyn found space and sent a rocket to the Corca Duibhne net to leave the score 2-1 to 0-2. Corca Duibhne then rallied to score 1-1 but a further 2-1 before half time saw Na Gaeil go to the short whistle leading 4-2 to 1-3. The Na Gaeil scores coming from Meadbh Horgan 0-1 and goals from Deirdre Kearney and Eilis O Connor.
In a half where chances were few the Na Gaeil defence dominated with Emer Nolan, Sara Quigley and Fiona Kavanagh dominating. On the resumption Corca Duibhne hit their second goal of the match but this was quickly cancelled out by a class effort low to the net by Jadyn.
Corca Duibhne hit a further 1-2 in the half but 2 points for Na Gaeil from Kate Anne and Brid O Connor saw Na Gaeil hold a 5 point lead going into the closing minutes.
Corca Duibhne continued to press to the end but Gallant work by Muireann Moriarty, Niamh Moriarty Maura O Connor and Brid O Connor closed out the game for Na Gaeil. Others to impress on the day were Fiona McKeown, Clodagh Griffin and Meagan Sheehy up front.
Na Gaeil: Laura Fitzgerald, Niamh Moriarty, Maura O Connor, Emer Nolan, Sara Quigley, Brid O Connor, Fiona Kavanagh, Deirdre Kearney, Kate Ann O Connor, Niamh Hannifin, Clodagh Griffin, Eilis O Connor, Meagan Sheehy, Muireann Moriarty, Sile Reidy, Meadbh Horgan, Nora O Connell, Jadyn Lucey, Fiona Mc Keown, Jenny Moriarty.

MNA NA GAEIL:
Mna Na Gaeil v Kerry Garda Ladies, Carmel O Connor Memorial Shield.
We played our first game as a team against Kerry Garda Ladies in a charity game in aid of Kerry Palliative Care in Killeen on Saturday.
We had huge support from the sideline with friends and family there. We were missing a few players with Caroline, Agnes, Cait and Fiona not being able to make it.
Anna and Noelle who were both out injured helped us on the sideline. Brid started in goals with Rosemarie, Joan and Siobhan in the full back line having to work very hard to try and halt their attacks early on, with the Garda ladies getting a couple of early goals.
Blaithnaid, Sorcha, Susan, Mary O Connor and Liz in the half back line were working hard trying to get control of the ball, Marguerite and Rosalind were doing a lot of running and having to do a lot of tackling in midfield.
Melissa, Denise, Mary Ross and Amy were back trying to help midfield in the early stages. Mary Sheehy , Maeve and Sharon were being marked tightly in the full forward line.
It took us a while to try and get used to the style of play and the first half was over very quickly. We gathered ourselves at half time and managed to dominate possession, Helen and Heather went into the full forward line and started to cause trouble.
Joan was excelling at full back with Sandra and Tracey making it tougher for the Garda to get through. Catherine went into goals and did very well there.
Brenda and Mairead were hustling and allowing Susan to be able to carry the ball forward and cause trouble. Liz and Deirdre were working the wings well, and with our forwards making some good runs, this enabled us to win a penalty which Susan despatched into the top corner.
Susan followed this up with another couple of points with Melissa scoring a fine point as well. Brid helped out in midfield and made some great catches which allowed Mags and Rosalind to get forward.
Unfortunately due to the good start that the Garda Ladies got, we ran out of time and lost by a scoreline of 3.03 to 1.04.
We had a great game once we got used to the pace. This was the girls first game and did really well as the game went on. It’s very hard to pick out any particular player as everyone on the field gave 110% and played in a great spirit, so well done to the team and thanks to everyone who supported Kerry Palliative Care on the day.
Thanks must go to Sean and Jackie for food after the game, Johnny for the pitch and cameraman Brian. Thanks to Seamus Moriarty and Liz Twomey for organising the game for such a great cause.

We had games every second Sunday and played over 12 different teams during the season.
The under 8s skills improved immensely during the year after 55 sessions in total between training and games, all done with loads of fun and enjoyment.
The players & parents would like to thank sincerely all our coaches especially Barry O’Donoghue, Ger Doyle and JJ Canty.

NA GAEIL MINOR SEMI-FINAL AND FINAL: Spectators were treated to an afternoon of exciting football in the St. Brendan’s Board Championship which took place on Bank Holiday Monday.
Na Gaeil met Ardfert in the semi-final at twelve o’ clock in Killeen while John Mitchel’s hostedChurchill in the other semi- final. Ardfert were off to the better start with a goal in the third minute.
Andrew Barry opened Na Gaeil’s account with a point which was closely followed by a pointed free from Darren Burns.
Another point from Andrew Barry levelled the scores but Ardfert soon found the net again to go ahead. Paul Nolan fired the ball over the black spot and a penalty from Darren Burns put Na Gaeil ahead by a point, midway through the half.
Ardfert soon levelled the game but good play from Andrew Barry sent a quick ball through to Darren Burns who quickly fired it over the bar for the score of the half.
Ardfert tagged on three more points and were a point ahead at the half. Na Gaeil 1-6, Ardfert 2-4. Na Gaeil upped their performance in this half and proved to be stronger than their opponents.
Terrific play from Diarmuid O’Connor gave Na Gaeil the start they needed when he rounded his marker and drove the ball to the net.Paul Nolan scored two fine points early in this half and with a combined effort from all of the team they went on to win this semi-final in fine style. Final score Na Gaeil 2-12, Ardfert 2-08.
Churchill defeated John Mitchel’s in the other semi-final and now faced Na Gaeil in the final in Killeen. This was a faster tempo game than the previous one with all players giving full attention and commitment.
Churchill had the better start, going ahead by two points before Na Gaeil’s Darren Burns scored their first point in the tenth minute. The first half belonged to Churchill who had picked off some fine points.
Paul Nolan, Jack Carmody, and Diarmuid O’Connor added to Na Gaeil’s score giving a half time score of Na Gaeil 0-4, Churchill 0-8.
Nathan Roche got his side off to a good startwith a point in the opening minute and Jack Carmody added another a minute later to leave two points between the sides.
Three unanswered points by Churchill put them back in a commanding lead again but Na Gaeil still kept up the work rate. Another point from Jack Carmody kept them in touch but a killer goal in the 17th minute should have finished off the game but didn’t.
A pointed free by Darren Burns in the 20thminute and two fine points by ‘All Ireland’ medal winner Andrew Barry, who had two fantastic games left a goal between the teams. The final minutes of the game were tense with Na Gaeil laying siege to the Churchill goal.
The ball went wide of the post on two occasions and a last second free kick into a crowded Churchill goal mouth was fisted by Jack
Carmody but his effort went over the bar for a point.
Churchill were ran out winners by two points by the final whistle but what a spirited display by our Na Gaeil lads. Well done and thanks to all mentors and supporters for their commitment.

NA GAEIL U13: The U13 team played Austin Stacks in the final of the Tralee Town Board Championship under lights last Saturday evening under in John Mitchels.
Austin Stacks opened the scoring with a point in the opening minute and they extended their lead five minutes later with another point.
Despite enjoying the majority of possession Na Gaeil struggled in the conditions and couldn’t convert their dominance into scores.
On the other hand Austin Stacks were making the most of their chances and got their third point of the game after fourteen minutes.
Mid-way through the first half Seamus Harty moved to mid field for Na Gaeil and got Na Gaeil’s first score on the eighteenth minute. He followed this up with a free on the twenty second minute and equalised a minute later with another free.
Daragh Reen then got on the end of a well worked move to put Na Gaeil into the lead for the first time after twenty four minutes. This was the last score of the half and Na Gaeil went into the interval leading by 0-4 to 0-3.
Seamus Harty opened the scoring in the second half with a point from a free after seven minutes and Tomas O’Hanafin extended the lead with another point on the tenth minute.
Austin Stacks were still in the game and reduced the deficit to two points when they got their first score of the half after fifteen minutes. Na Gaeil had a couple of goal opportunities to finish off the game but unfortunately were unable to take them.
However our defenders were on top form and restricted the Stacks to a single score in the second period. Seamus Harty got his fourth point of the game on the twenty second minute and scored another point from a free on the twenty fifth minute to leave the final score Na Gaeil 0-8 Austin Stacks 0-4.
This was another excellent performance by this group of players. Devon Burns was rock solid in goal and made an important save in the first half.
Our defenders Oisin Maunsell Eoin Cahill, Jack Sheehan, Enda O’Connor, Seamus Harty and Ruri O’Sullivan an exhibition in defending and were the foundation of the victory on the night.
In Mid field Tadgh Lynch, Ruri O’Sullivan and Seamus Harty covered the entire pitch and got some vital scores.
Our forward line of Darragh Reen, Tomas O’Hanafin, Liam Rice Dale Healy and John Liam Rice kept the Austin Stacks under pressure throughout the game and set up and got some great scores.
The importance of a strong panel was highlighted when Mathew Burke, Jimmy O’Sullivan, CianDevine, Tadgh Horgan, Jack O’Brien and Jack Bourke all made important contributions when introduced.
The Town Board trophy was presented to Captain Tadgh Lynch who thanked his team mates and Austin Sacks on their fine performance.
This was a great end to an excellent season for this team. This was the third competition they won this year and they can all look forward to our annual awards night in the club house this Friday evening.

NA GAEIL SENIOR LADIES: On Saturday 25 October, Na Gaeil Senior ladies made a long awaited return to action last weekend with a hard earned victory over local rivals Austin Stacks.
In a game played under ideal conditions at Connolly Park Na Gaeil ran out winners on a 4-8 to 1-3 scoreline which did not reflect the effort put in by Stacks. Playing into the breeze Na Gaeil were first of the mark with a well worked score which saw Ayesha Roche finish low to the Stacks net for the opening score on 3 minutes.
Na Gaeil were guilty of some poor shooting before a pointed free by Ayesha and points by Brid O Connor and Meadbh Barry after excellent work by Sile Reidy, Sara Quigley, Shona Roche,Megan Sheehy and Jayden Lucey saw Na Gaeil lead 1-3 to no score.
Austin Stacks Dominated the closing periods of the half scoring three unanswered points and were it not for some excellent work by Deirdre Kearney, Clodagh Griffin, Niamh Hannifin, Niamh Moriarty and Laura Fitzgerald in goals could have scored more.
The half time score was Na Gaeil 1-3 Austin Stacks 0-3. On the restart Na Gaeil introduced Riona Kennedy at full back with Deirdre Kearney moving to mid field and this change brought immediate rewards with Jayden Lucey firing low to the stacks net for the opening score of the half.
Stacks replied quickly with a well worked point and after a few wides Ayeaha Roche settled Na Gaeil nerves with a well worked score from an assist by Eilis O Connor who was now operating at wing forward to great effect.
Meadbh Horgan then scored the first of her 2 goals when she blasted high to the Stacks net. This was followed by 2 further points from Jayden Lucey and one from Ayesha Roche. Austin Stacks continued to press and were it not for some poor shooting and good defending by Nora O Connell, Jenny Moriarty, Emer Nolan before they scored a good goal the sides would have been closer.
Then Meadbh Horgan closed out the game with a goal and a point to leave the final score Na Gaeil 4-8 Austin Stacks 1-4.
Na Gaeil: Laura Fitzgerald, Niamh Hannifin, Brid O Connor, Emer Nolan, Shona Roche, Eilis O Connor, Nora O Connell, Deirdre Kearney, Jenny Moriarty, Clodagh Griffin, Niamh Moriarty, Sile Reidy, Sara Quigley, Meadbh Barry, Megan Sheehy, Jayden Lucey, Fiona Kavanagh, Riona Kennedy, Meadbh Horgan.
NA GAEIL LADIES COUNTY LEAGUE DIV 2 FINAL: On Sunday 2nd Nov. Na Gaeil played Rathmore in the Division 2 league final in Fossa.
In good conditions Na Gaeil playing into a slight breeze started the brighter and points from Meadbh Horgan and Eilis O Connor saw them lead 2 points to nil after 10 minutes.
However as the game progressed Rathmore were beginning to cope well and hit 5 unanswered points which saw them go into a 3 point lead before a well worked move involving Marie Quirke, Shauna Heaslip and Jayden Lucey saw Ayesha Roche finish the ball to the Rathmore net to level scores.
Indeed were it not for some heroic defending and great goalkeeping by Laura Fitzgerald Rathmore could have been further ahead. The game ebbed and flowed for the next 10 minutes with Rathmore scoring 3 points to a solitary reply from Ayesha Roche.
Then on the 27th minute Rathmore struck for a decisive goal before half time leaving the scores Rathmore 1-8 to Na Gaeil 1-3.
Na Gaeil started well on the resumption and a point by Ayesha reduced the defecit to 4 and a period of dominance for Na Gaeil yielded no scores while Rathmore scored 2 points to go into a commanding 6 point lead.
Na Gaeil to their credit kept playing intelligent football and points by Megan Sheehy and Marie Quirke reduced the defecit 4 again.
Then Rathmore took advantage on some poor Na Gaeil to strike for their second goal of the match leaving the 5 points ahead with 10 minutes to play.
Na Gaeil dominated the final 10 minutes of play out scoring Rathmore 1-2 the goal from Kate Anne O Connor and the points from Meadbh Horgan and Ayesha to a point leaving the final score Na Gaeil 2-8, Rathmore 2-11.
This was a game which Na Gaeil could have won but some poor passing turn overs and injuries cost us dearly. We now play the Mary Jo Curran Cup B final next weekend.
Na Gaeil: Laura Fitzgerald, Niamh Moriarty, Brid O Connor, Niamh Hannifin, Maura O Connor, Megan Sheehy, Sara Quigley, Shona Roche,Jenny Moriarty, Clodagh Griffin, Eilis O Connor, Sile Reidy, Shauna Heaslip, Emer Nolan, Marie Quirke, Fiona Kavanagh, Ayesha Roche, Kate Ann O Connor, Jayden Lucey, Sinead Prendergast, Meadbh Horgan.
NA GAEIL LADIES U 16:We played Austin Stacks on Friday evening in Killeen, Despite weather conditions, the playing area was not too bad.
We started the game playing into the wind and got a couple of early scores through Nora,Niamh and Meagan. Stacks used the wind well with Eimear (Captain) ,Seili and Blaithnoid being kept busy. Sarah Quigley, Muireann and Kelly were being pulled all over the pitch with Nora and Nessa having to work hard in midfield.
We got a couple of more points with Jadyn, Sibeal and Meagan working well together. Caoimhe was unlucky not to get a goal, with Niamh and Aimee keeping the backs busy. Stacks made a few changes to stem our attacking and it worked.
We were doing well coming up to half time, except for conceding a late goal which left us level at half time. We made a few changes at half time , bringing on Sarah Lynch and Ciara. We started the second half like the first half, dominating possession but Stacks were defending well.
Ria, Kay and Clodagh came on and made some great runs, Erika came on for the last 10 mins and caused loads of havoc in the forwards but our luck was not there on the day.
We had two goals controversially disallowed for square ball, we were really putting pressure on Stacks where we earned 2 penaltys but as luck would have it, first one was saved, second one was tipped over the bar.
It was a good game, where we were unlucky not to come away with something. We missed a few scores and Stacks held out to the end with some last ditch defending so well done to Stacks and to our girls for the effort they put in. We now have a B final against Listowel Emmets.
Team ; Aishling White, Blaithnoid O Connor, Seili Lynch, Eimear Nolan, Kelly Bowler, Muireann Moriarty, Erika O Sullivan, Nora O Connell,Nessa Mc Garty, Sarah Quigley, Meagan Sheehy, Sibeal Casey, Niamh Griffin, Jadyn Lucey, Caoimhe Hanafin, Aimee Kerins,Sarah Lynch, Ria Walsh, Kay Barry, Clodagh O Connor, Ciara Gaynor.

NA GAEIL LADIES:Na Gaeil Ladies v Kerins O Rahillys , U14 Tralee Town league Semi Final.
We played Kerins O Rahillys on Tuesday in Strand Rd. Abi started in goals for us with Amii, Grainne and Maura in the full-back line.
Clodagh, Dearbhla and Ciara worked hard in the half back line trying to support midfield. Sophie, Brid and Caragh played in the full forward line, creating chances and making some great space. Kay, Jadyn and Roisin were being marked tightly.
We lost Mary early in the game for a while after a clash of heads, which earned her a nice shiner. Jadyn moved into midfield scoring 2 points alongside Meagan who scored 1-01, where they had to work very hard to try and contain Rahillys. We got to half time, leading by a small margin.
We made a few changes, Muireann went into goals, Abi and Ciara into full forward line, with Abi getting herself a goal, and Ciara scoring 1-01. Mary came back on, scoring 3.01 and found a lot of space and some great passes from Kay, Jadyn and Meagan.
Rahillys were still proving themselves dangerous and earned themselves a penalty. Despite Muireann getting a hand to the ball from the penalty, she could keep it out of the net. We finished the game strongly, and looked forward to the Final Against Stacks.
Na Gaeil Ladies v Austin Stacks, U14 Tralee Town league A Final.
Na Gaeil hosted the A and B final in Killeen on Saturday evening. John Mitchels beat Kerins O Rahillys in the B final. We were the second game to be played in dry but very windy conditions.
We started brightly with Meagan scoring an early point. Mary followed with another point. Jadyn had a couple of close misses hitting the upright twice. Meagan followed on this with a point from a 45.
Sibeal who came back from injury, scored herself a point also. Stacks were always dangerous on the break, with a lot of pace through their team, where they managed to get a few scores.Meagan scored another 2 points before half time.
Despite playing the first half with the wind, we did not take advantage and we went in at half time level. Our second half was going to be tough, with Stacks having the strong wind and some strong kickers to use the wind to good effect. We knew the second half was going to be tough.
Stacks scored a goal and couple of points early in the second half and had the lead but as happened all year, this team of girls do not know when to give up, and despite the odds, we started to regain possession, started to take the game to them.
With our defenders Amii and Maura winning and fighting for every ball and Ria clearing up any loose balls. Ciara who scored 1-01 in the forwards, came into goals for the last 15 mins to help set up attacks from the backs.
Grainne who worked tirelessly in marking Molly Carroll and did a magnificent job for the team. Dearbhla, Clodagh in the half back line defended with their lives with Muireann in the centre helping her defence and making some great runs forward. Sophie, Brid and Roisin were marked tightly in the full forward line but still managed to make room and get a few shots in.
Caragh came on and had a couple of great shots but was unlucky. Our half forwards Abi, Sibeal and Kay were making runs, blocks, scoring and earning free kicks from their movements.
And with Jadyn, Mary and Meagan getting forward and back to help out in defence and attack, we were getting back on top. Jadyn and Meagan were combining well which enabled Jadyn to get a couple of crucial points to keep us within touching distance. Mary made another run from midfield, scoring a point and leaving us a point down.
With about 5 mins to go, Muireann won the ball on the half back line, passed it to Meagan, who made one of her surging runs from midfield, weaving this way and that way, she pushed right, cut back inside and left off a ferocious shot which gave the keeper no chance.
Jadyn settled us with our last point of the game and with Stacks trying to force their way in for a goal, our defence stood strong with Stacks having to settle for a point instead. Ciara kicked the ball out and the whistle was blown for full time.
Our supporters erupted on the sideline, after another exciting free flowing game of football. Well done to all the girls who have had a great year, who have worked hard in training and have gotten their just rewards for their efforts and their never giving up attitude.
This was also the last game for our U14’s this year and i would like to wish to those that are moving up to U16’s the very best and to the U14’s that will be playing U14 the very best also for next year.

Na Gaeil faced St Pats in the semi-final of the Brendan’s Championship.
Played in Killeen in ideal weather conditions it was the home side who registered the first score, but it was to be St Pats who enjoy the best of the exchanges in the opening fifteen minutes building up a lead of 01-03 to 00-02. The visitors failed to capitalise on their good start and were reeled in by a determined Na Gaeil side intent on maintaining their recent run of good luck.
Na Gaeil went into the break with a three point advantage on a score line of 00-10 to 01-04.Na Gaeil started the second half superbly extending their lead with fine scores from Darren Burns, scoring three points in quick succession from difficult angles.
Despite St Pats missing a late penalty Na Gaeil had the game pretty much rapped up with the likes of Kieran Donovan and Ross Culloty being superb trough out. Na Gaeil won out on a score line of 00-21 to St Pats 01-11.
Tim Culloty, Ross Culloty, Kieran Dineen, Paul Daly, Richie Barrett, Eoin Doody, Andrew Barry, Jack Barry, Dave Culloty, Kieran O’Donovan, Eoin Daly, Jamie Lowham, Dara Carmody, Darren Burns, Jack Carmody, Cormac Sheehy. We play the winners of Churchill v Ardfert.

NA GAEIL LADIES V LISTOWEL U14 Div 1Final: After our very busy week, we played Listowel in the North Kerry Final in Ballyduff on Wednesday evening.
We were missing Sibeal and Erika through injury, wishing them a speedy recovery. This was going to be a close game with Listowel being a strong physical side with a lot of pace through their team.
Abi started in goals for us, giving us some good kickouts. We were a bit nervous at the start, and took us a bit of time to adjust to their physical approach, which helped Listowel to a very good start.
They got fast ball up to their forwards, and got some very early scores. Ria, Grainne and Maura were being pulled all over the field from their full back positions, which enabled Listowel to take advantage of the space.
Ciara, Muireann and Dearbhla had also to chase their players, but they fought for every ball. Mary and Meagan were in midfield and did some fierce running from box to box with Jadyn, Kay and Clodagh having to come back and help our defence.
Brid, Roisin and Aimee could not get within a breath away from their markers. Mary got us a point with Jadyn grabbing another 2 points just before the end of the first half.
We were down 2.05 to 0.03 points at half time, despite the score line, we had hit the cross bar and posts and were unlucky to down by 8 points.
We talked at half time and came out in the second half a more positive attacking attitude and took the game to Listowel.
We made a couple of changes, bringing on Caragh, Sophie and bringing Abi out of goals. Abi won a high ball in near the box, took on 2 players and blasted it into the back of the net.
The comeback was on. Jadyn made another run , interchanging passes with Meagan and Mary, and scored another great goal. Our forwards were making so many runs, we had Listowel at sixes and sevens.
Abi scored another point with Jadyn following up with one as well.Jadyn got us another point, with Muireann making a great run from defence and scoring a great point.
Listowel scored another couple of points and were still ahead by 5 points when Kay made another great run into the box and was pulled down and won us a penalty, Jadyn struck it lovely but hit crossbar and over for a point. 4 points down, 6 mins to go. From the resulting kick out, Meagan won the ball, feed it to Jadyn and she scored another point.
Listowel got the ball out fast and found one of their players on the 40 with only keeper to beat,Ciara came out to meet the ball and player and got a slight touch on the ball, but it was on its way into the net except for Muireann who made a sprint from the halfway line, passed her keeper and scooped the ball off the line.
Muireann then got the ball to Kay, who in turn found Jadyn, who made another fantastic run and scored a goal with a scorcher of a shot. 3 points up with 3 mins to go. We fought to the end not letting any Listowel player room or space to try and score.
We won the game on a scoreline of 3-08 to 2-08. Our defenders Dearbhla, Muireann, Maura, Ria, Ciara and Grainne were exceptional with their robust defending, not letting any players past.
Mary and Meagan never stopped running and working throughout the whole game and were shattered after it. And our movement from our forwards Brid, Roisin, Caragh, Sophie, Abi, Kay , Aimee and the work rate from Jadyn was exceptional.
We won by 3 points in the end with probably the best display of attacking football, hard work and sheer desire we have seen this year.
All parents should be proud of all the players. Thanks to Sean and staff for helping the girls celebrate after the game and thanks to the parents and supporters who came to the game. It was the positive support from the stands that also helped the girls to keep fighting till the end.

NA GAEIL LADIES: Na Gaeil v Kerins O Rahillys, Tralee Town League U16 Final
We played Kerins O’Rahillys in the final at Killeen on Monday in a very exciting game. This was going to be a very tight game as we were missing a few girls through sickness and injury.
Aimee started in goals for us with our Captain Eimear starting at full back and Blaithnoid and Maura in the corners. They were kept very busy making sure that their forwards got very little space.
Sarah, Ciara and Ria played on the half back line but got very little time to go forward as Rahillys forwards gave them no space. Nora and Nessa had to work hard in midfield against a big strong Rahillys midfield. Meagan and Jadyn were marked tightly for the first half as were our full forwards Brid, Caoimhe and Clodagh.
It was a very tight first half with Rahillys scoring 4 points but Kay who started at centre half forward had a superb first half with some great running and earning herself 1-01 for her hard work. It was all level at half time, we missed a few chances but started the second half brightly.
Grainne came in at the backs and won some great ball. Jadyn started to find the space and scored a couple of early points, Sarah made a couple of great runs and earned herself a point.
Meagan and Nora scored another point each. Rahillys still did not give up scoring a couple of goals and points. Brid went into goals at half time and made some super saves and her fast kickouts started all our attacks again.
We were up by a point going into injury time, Rahillys made a burst through the centre and scored a goal for them to lead by 2 points with seconds left, but as per usual, we have a team that do not know when to give up.
Sarah won the ball in our backs and got the ball to Jadyn, who picked out Meagan superbly on the 40. Our Supporters let her know that we needed a goal, she ran from the 40, twisted and turned through 4 or 5 players, got into about 8 yards from goal and buried it into the back of the net.
The sideline erupted with joy. The final whistle was blown not long after. It was a joy to watch this game for all supporters as it was end to end, great attacking football, along with never say die attitude. Well done to Captain Eimear and her team.
Team ; Aimee Kerins, Blaithnoid O Connor, Eimear Nolan, Maura Adams, Sarah Quigley, Ciara Gaynor, Ria Walsh, Nessa Mc Garty, Nora O Connell, Meagan Sheehy, Kay Barry, Jadyn Lucey, Brid Sinnott, Caoimhe Hanafin, Clodagh O Connor, Grainne Early.
Na Gaeil Ladies v Austin Stacks, North Kerry League U14 Div 1.
We played away to Austin Stacks on Wednesday evening. A bright evening with a slight breeze. We had a few early chances with Brid, Caragh and Roisin in the full forward line but we could not take advantage, At the other end Stacks had Molly Carroll on fine form, scoring an early goal.
To which Jadyn scored a point with Meagan following up with another goal. Kay worked hard in the centre of half forwards and getting herself a fine point. Muireann (Captain) and Mary were being marked tight and were getting no space, Dearbhla, Grainne and Ciara were kept very busy and were sending some great balls forward.
Our full backs Sophie , Ria, Aimee and Clodagh were being run off their feet. Abi, who started in goals came ou and was unlucky not to get a couple of scores. But the game was down to a duel of scoring between Jadyn and Meagan against Molly. With Meagan scoring 4.02 and Jadyn scoring 2.05, but it was Molly that came out on top with scoring 6 goals herself, and setting up a few more scores for her team mates.
This was a fierce exciting game, not one for the faint-hearted but alas we lost to Stacks in the end. Well done to our players and to some of our younger players Caragh O Neill and Sophie Lowham who made their debuts for the U14’s.
Team ; Aimee Kerins, Ciara Gaynor, Ria Walsh,Muireann Moriarty, Mary O Connell, Meagan Sheehy, Kay Barry, Jadyn Lucey, Brid Sinnott, Dearbhla Quirke, Clodagh O Connor, Grainne Early, Abi Casey, Roisin Collins, Caragh O Neill, Sophie Lowham.
Na Gaeil Ladies v John Mitchels , North Kerry League U14 Div 1.
We played John Mitchels in Killeen on Friday night. We had a light drizzle of rain during the game.
Muireann and Dearbhla worked hard in the half back line allowing midfielders Meagan and Mary to get forward and support Jadyn and Clodagh. Brid, Roisin and Aimee (Captain) used the space in full forward line to great effect.
Grainne and Ciara kept things tight in the full back line with Abi starting in goals. Mary settled us with an early point, then with some fine long range points from Jadyn and a goal apiece from Muireann and Meagan, we took control of the game. Aimee finished the first half with a well worked point.
We made a few changes at half time with Abi coming out from goals, creating scores for her team mates. We got some more fine points from Brid, Meagan , Mary and Ciara, with a goal apiece coming from Clodagh and Grainne. All our girls played a great game of quick kick passing football, with each player having to work hard and play for each other. Well done girls.
Team ; Aimee Kerins, Ciara Gaynor,Muireann Moriarty, Mary O Connell, Meagan Sheehy, Jadyn Lucey, Brid Sinnott, Dearbhla Quirke, Clodagh O Connor, Grainne Early, Abi Casey, Roisin Collins.
Na Gaeil Ladies v Currow, North Kerry League U14 Div 1.
After a very busy week of football, we played at home to Currow on Sunday evening in torrid conditions. It was very wet and the field was fierce slippery.
If we could win this game, we were set for the final, with Meagan and Mary running midfield, Muireann and Dearbhla stopping all runs coming from midfield.
Grainne and Ria did not let any player near our goals with Currow having to take long kicks for points. Caragh got us a fine early goal along a goal apiece from Mary and Meagan as well. Kay and Clodagh were working the wings well allowing Jadyn the space to score another few points.
Aimee and Ciara(Captain) were unlucky not to get another couple of scores only for last ditch tackling. We were in control at half time, so we made a few changes with Brid,Sophie going into the forwards and caused plenty of havoc.
Dearbhla and Abi joined into the forwards and got themselves a point apiece. We got a few scores and finished the game strongly. We can now look forward to playing Listowel on Wednesday night in Ballyduff at 5.45 in the final. Well done to everyone in making the final.
Team; Aimee Kerins, Ciara Gaynor, Ria Walsh,Muireann Moriarty, Mary O Connell, Meagan Sheehy, Kay Barry, Jadyn Lucey, Brid Sinnott, Dearbhla Quirke, Clodagh O Connor, Grainne Early, Abi Casey, Caragh O Neill, Sophie Lowham.

In the second last game of the League campaign Na Gaeil extend their unbeaten run with a good away win against Cromane, played in ideal conditions.
Mike Griffin opened up Na Gaeil’s account with a superbly taken goal within minutes of the start, followed by a quick succession of points from Dara Carmody and Dave Culloty.
Thinks were looking ominous for Cromane when Kieran O’Donovan extended the visitors lead to seven when he goaled after a goal mouth scramble fell kindly to his feet and didn’t have to be asked twice to finish.
To the credit of the home side they battled hard and succeeded in reducing the deficit to three by half time. Cromane 0-07; Na Gaeil 2-04.
Despite their strong finish in the opening half Cromane were completely blitzed in the opening ten minutes ,outscored 1-05 to nothing, with Mike Griffin netting his second goal of the afternoon while Jack Barry, David Culloty and Dara Carmody chipped in for points, which in reality killed off the game as a contest.
A late goal by Jack Carmody and points from Dylan Seymour and Kieran O’Donovan mid- way through the second half added to the home side misery with the final score finishing Cromane 0-14; Na Gaeil 4-14.
Tim Culloty, Paul Daly, Kieran Dineen, Ross Culloty, Eoin Doody, Andrew Barry, Dara Sheehy, Jack Barry(0-1), Dan O’Connor(02), David Culloty(03), Dara Carmody(04), Kieran O’Donovan (1-02), Mike Griffin (2-01), Darren Burns, Jamie Lowham, Dylan Seymour(01), Jack Carmody(01-00), Eoin Daly, Rob Murphy, Tadhg O’Neill, Emmet Curran,
NA GAEIL U14
The U14 team played Churchill the final of the Town Board league last Thursday evening in Churchill. The teams had already met in the league phase of thecompetition and in the St Brendan’s championship final in recent weeks and Churchill came out on top on both occasions.
Knee injuries to Rory Murphy and Adam Burke meant that they could not play in the final but fortunately a number of other players were available for selection in their place.
Na Gaeil started the game brightly and had an early goal chance which Churchill managed to defend, however Dan Goggin opened the scoring from a resulting free after five minutes.
Robin McCarthy then followed up with a second point a minute later to extend Na Gaeil’s lead. The third score of the game came after thirteen minutes when Cillian Spillane scored another point from a free.
Na Gaeil continued to dominate the early exchanges and were very unlucky not to get a goal. Aaron Dewey made a great pass to Dan Goggin who chipped the goal keeper soccer style but unfortunately the ball clipped the cross bar and Na Gaeil had to be content with a point. Cillian Spillane got his second point of the game a minute later to put Na Gaeil five points ahead after fifteen minutes.
The Na Gaeil defenders were on top form and didn’t allow any scoring opportunities to the home side.
The forwards also continued their good form as the first half progressed and Robin McCarthy scored an excellent long range point to extend the lead. Churchill got their first score of the half after seventeen minutes but this was cancelled out by Robin McCarthy’s third point a minute later.
There were a few more chances created by both sides before half time but the only score came from Churchill which meant Na Gaeil lead at half time by 0-7 to 0-2.
Despite leading by five points at half time Na Gaeil knew that they would have to play even better in the second half if they were to win this match.
They got an early reminder when Churchill got the two first scores of the half in the opening minutes. However Na Gaeil didn’t panic and after five minutes Dan Goggin set up Robin McCarthy for their first score of the second period.
This score settled Na Gaeil and they began to dominate possession and further scores from Dan, Robin and John Ward meant that the lead was extended to seven points after thirteen minutes. As in the first half the Na Gaeil backs were winning their individual battles and restricted scoring opportunities for Churchill.
However Churchill got their third point of the half after fifteen minutes to keep them in contention. Na Gaeil then had a great chance to extend their lead but after doing everything right Dan Goggin’s goal attempt hit the cross bar and Churchill managed to clear the ball.
This let off encouraged the home side and they responded with the next two scores of the game. At this stage both sides believed that they could win the match but the crucial score came on the twenty first minute when Darragh Reen scored an opportunistic goal to give Na Gaeil a seven point lead as the game entered the closing stages.
Despite the deficit Churchill never gave up and scored a point from the kick out to reduce the lead. They were back in the game a minute later when they scored an excellent goal and another point on the twenty fourth minute meant that there was only two points between the teams.
However Na Gaeil were not going to let this game slip and defended bravely in the closing minutes to ensure that there would be no further scores and when the referee blew the final whistle the score was Na Gaeil 1-11 Churchill 1-9.
This was a hard fought but deserved victory. Despite losing the previous two game Na Gaeil knew that if they played to their potential they had a great chance of victory.
The back line of David Fitzgerald, Stephen Ryan, Seamus Harty and Lee Byrne kept their discipline and defended as a unit throughout the game and restricted gaol scoring opportunities for Churchill.
The half back line of Aaron Dewey, Damien Burke and Ruri 0’Sullivan (who gave his best performance of the season) kept a very dangerous half forward line quiet and also set number a number of counter attacks throughout the game.
At mid field Tadgh Lynch and Fergal Barry worked tirelessly during the match linking with the forwards and helping the back line when required.
The half forward line of John Ward, Cillian Spillane and Dan Goggin combined excellently and all contributed vital scores. Robin McCarthy was an excellent target at full forward and Jack Costello and David Boyle set up a number of score during the match.
The game is no longer a fifteen man game and all the subs introduced played their part. Darragh Reen came on in the first half and scored the vital goal and in the second half Conor Hayes, Jack Sheehan and Eoin Cahill all made vital contributions to the victory.
The Town Board trophy was presented to Captain Dan Goggin who thanked his team mates, mentors and Churchill on their fine performance.
Congratulations and well done to the entire panel for reaping the reward of the hard work since last January. This was a great way to end the season. We must also thank our supporters who turned out in great numbers once again to cheer on the team.
